Blog Post 26. Top Gun – Stick To Your Wing Man.

January begins with modest growth under 1%, as our swing trading strategy utilizes a grid system to manage risk and capitalize on market mean reversion. Monitoring key currency pairs, we adapt to market dynamics while maintaining a focus on long-term profitability and risk control. External factors, like Trump's trade policies, remain unpredictable.

Happy Sunday! January’s off to a modest start, with just under 1% growth. Our swing trading strategy, rooted in a grid system, thrives not just when predictions are spot-on (which anyone can do occasionally) but especially when they’re slightly or significantly off. The key lies in managing risk through incremental entries across the grid. By averaging positions, we aim to capitalize on the market’s inevitable tendency to revert to the mean.

This approach reminds me of Top Gun, where Maverick learns not to leave his wing man. The “core 10” positions represent that wing man principle, ensuring the strategy’s integrity, while roaming positions adapt to unique market conditions or battlefield conditions to continue the analogy.

As we look ahead, the markets open in 7 hours. Signs suggest reversals across pairs like EURUSD, and I’m monitoring NZDUSD and USDCAD closely. External factors, such as Trump’s trade policies, remain wildcards, but global dynamics often present collaborative resolutions. In other words the Canadian’s might throw him a bone, allowing him to claim a win and a destructive trade war gets called off. It seems to be all about the win and his ego.

The goal remains unchanged: control risk, adapt strategically, and stay true to the principles that drive consistent, long-term profitability. Let’s see what the week brings!
